The songs in this collection belong to the plays written by me and performed from the 60’s to the 70’s, that is to say in the period immediately after Franca and I were dismissed from Canzonissima ‘62 (the Italian song festival) and before the show Mistero Buffo. The plays were then performed again towards the end of the 70’s in a series broadcast on RAI 2.These songs were born from the life long collaboration with my friend who died recently, Fiorenzo Carpi, an extraordinary musician for his culture and tractability. Together we were committed and also enjoyed ourselves, over a period of about 40 years, writing songs of which some have became famous, hopping from one musical and theatrical theme to another, inventingnew styles, reelaborating classical ones, creating “historical fakes” and introducing them little as “anonymous 15th century Lombard”, “18th century minuettist”, “minstrel” etc., all in perfect harmony thanks also to Fiorenzo’s geniality and serious work. It is for him too, since he was an artist, a poet and a friend not to be forgotten, that I am glad to have this opportunity to publish these beautiful songs once again, so that new generations may have the possibility to know them and hopefully, love them, and by listening to them they will not let them fall into oblivion.
